About

This website guides health care professionals, who use bibliotherapy in their practice, find appropriate books to help children and youth who have experienced trauma. This is a quick & easy reference tool for books on various subjects such as Parental Addiction, Sexual Abuse, and Migration. You will find a discription of each book, that has been referenced, including the suggested age range, the subject matter, as well as any other necessary information that a professional may need to know. The "How to Use" link will provide information on how to  conduct Bibliotherapy based on peer reviewed research. We have included a link, to an outside website, for you to purchase the book if you so desire.

Think we are missing some information on a book? Let us know!

Please suggest the addition of a book that is not referenced on this website that we may add it to the list for others to consider using.  Let's heal through books together.

Why Use Bibliotherapy

Bibliotherapy is a great way to help children and youth with their experienced trauma. Just a few examples from Heath et al., (2005) is that it can help with emotional healing, growth, self-concept and decreasing fear and anxiety. As per De Vries et al., (2017)  it can decrease loneliness, grief, and a feeling of distrust.
